Do You Have The Discipline To Work From Home?

Working from home: I have so many friends who look at me with envy when I tell them that I walk 20 feet from my bedroom to my office.

Three computers, two printers, several cameras, video equipment, and lots of theater photography of me in shows and of the productions I have directed.

But it's easy to fall into a trap. I know lots of people who are GREAT workers… but they can't plan their own schedules and wouldn't know how to begin to be their own bosses.

That's only SOME of the things we'll cover in this particular blog here on Raising Great Families and this blog: Working From Home.

Share your ideas. Leave comments. Let us know your greatest triumphs and your toughest challenges.

Together we'll make all of this work… and work well from home!

Charlie,

I know I work best in an office environment. My home office is in the basement so maybe if I had a place with some windows and was a little more inspiring I could perform better…

Also, when I'm home its very easy to allow resistance into your work…if you don't know what resistance is you need to buy the book "The War of Art" by Steven Pressfield.

Sincerely,

Bill Parlaman

Thanks, Bill…. I know what you mean!

You're a creative type and I like the website you're building: http://BBQFreaks.com. With that kind of energy, you really need to focus your work time, ESPECIALLY if no one else is looking over your shoulder.

What I find is that so many people working at home think: well, tomorrow's another day – whatever I don't get done today I'll do tomorrow.

But then tomorrow has its own deadlines.

So… create a list of things you need to do TODAY and don't go to bed until they are done.

Simply by measuring, you'll do better. Set your daily goals in writing and you'll see how much better you do!

Charlie
